   Ground Zero        Hornpayne

Hornepayne was the closest Via Rail Station, a two hour drive north from our home in Marathon Ontario. We boarded our train at 1:00 am September 22, 2000 for a non-stop round trip of  pure adventure across Canada.

Liz & Doug  Liz & Doug Gibbons

This was a once in a life time chance to do a complete round trip by Via rail in 14 days with no interruptions along the way. There were  two overnight accommodations  in Vancouver, two full days  in Montreal one night each  in Halifax and Toronto.

Over 650 picture were taken along the way, my only regret is that I wish I had taken more. What I did see and photograph was very fulfilling and made me realize how lucky we are to live in such a country so diverse. People from all over the world were traveling this train for the first or second time and by the atmosphere present we all felt that we all had one thing in common...Canada.

Editing down the images for the next 14 pages was no easy task, I hope you enjoy the ride as much as Liz & I did.
